CIO-S also acts as a Case Processing Centre (CPC) for certain applications, which may change over time.

CIO: Central Intake Office

CIO, or Case Processing Centre in Sydney, is an IRCC (Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada) office located in Sydney, Nova Scotia. It is responsible for processing various immigration applications, although the specific applications it handles may change over time. CIO-S serves as a central processing hub for the following immigration programs:

Federal Skilled Worker Program: This program is designed for skilled workers with foreign work experience who wish to immigrate to Canada and contribute to the Canadian economy.

Federal Skilled Trades Program: This program is tailored for skilled tradespeople who have work experience in specific trades and want to become permanent residents of Canada.

Canadian Experience Class: This program is for individuals who have gained skilled work experience in Canada and wish to transition to permanent residency.

Provincial Nominee Program: This program allows Canadian provinces and territories to nominate individuals with the skills and experience required for their local labor market to become permanent residents.

Start-Up Visa: This program targets foreign entrepreneurs who have innovative business ideas and the potential to create jobs and drive economic growth in Canada.

Quebec Investors or Entrepreneurs: This category is specific to Quebec and is designed for individuals interested in making investments or establishing businesses in the province.

Quebec Skilled Workers: This program is tailored for skilled workers who wish to settle in Quebec and contribute to the province’s labor market.

Immigrant Investor Venture Capital Class: This program is designed for high net worth individuals interested in making a significant investment in Canada’s economy.

Federal Self-Employed Persons and Quebec Selected Self-Employed Persons: These programs are for individuals with self-employment experience in cultural activities, athletics, or farming, who wish to settle in Canada.

In addition to processing these immigration applications, CIO-S also acts as a Case Processing Centre (CPC) for certain other types of applications, which include:

Permanent Resident Cards: CIO-S handles applications for new permanent resident cards as well as renewals of existing cards.

Citizenship Applications: CIO-S processes various citizenship applications, including new applications, renunciations, revocations, and resumptions.

The role of CIO-S, as both an IRCC office and a Case Processing Centre, involves reviewing and assessing applications, conducting background checks, verifying documents, and making decisions on eligibility for various immigration and citizenship programs.
